Extreme bias alert here, but I find pricing professionals benefit tremendously from spending time in contracts and operations roles (I include project finance in "operations"). Contracts roles teach you what terms and assumptions made (or, just as important, missing) upfront impact contract integrity and customer relationships down the road. Operations roles give you a sixth sense of when certain pricing algorithms and bid requests simply don't look right.
A pricing team with a diverse background in contracts and operations is a wonder to behold.
