100 Thoughts on Pricing (Tools): #72

I view Excel VBA macros in pricing tools as the last-ditch option for functionality that simply cannot be programmed through normal Excel means. The main reasons are that 1) macros are finnicky and often require certain parts of the tool to be locked down, and 2) few Excel users know how to troubleshoot them. Every macro makes the tool a little less self-service. In a perfect world, you wouldn't need them, but I continue to find client exports and certain in-file navigation improvements simply can't be done in one-click fashion without them.
